The value that new technologies bring
to cosmetic and restorative dentistry goes beyond the individual
health benefits associated with specific procedures. Today, dentistry
is much more comfortable, efficient and beneficial to our patients.
The possibilities offered by present and future advancements can
positively change someone's psychological and physical perception
of themselves.
Specific procedural technological updates have
created restorations that last longer and look more natural. Many
of these restorations are indistinguishable from natural teeth in
their feel, function and appearance. A youthful, vibrant, healthy
smile throughout one's life is now more possible than ever.

No-Drill Dentistry
Making dentistry comfortable has always been our goal.
However, it has been the latest technological developments that have given
us the results our patients have wished for. Removing the noise, vibrations
of the drill and the associated heat sensitivities can be accomplished
more often with the "small abrasion technology" we now employ.
This state-of-the-art system aims a pressurized stream
of tiny quartz crystals at areas of your teeth that are being prepared
for various procedures. It is used to create a surface for better bonding
of a restoration. It’s very helpful in esthetic procedures for shaping
and contouring of ceramic bonding materials or to etch porcelain crowns
and veneers to create a natural and healthy look, feel and function. While
this hasn’t completely replaced the high-speed drill, it has given
us more options than ever before.

No-Scalpel Surgery
Gum tissue, the protective covering of the bone which supports
your teeth, can encroach on your smile. Excessive gum tissue or varying
gum tissue height isn’t necessarily unhealthy but can produce a
less-than-confident smile. To correct these conditions, we perform a no-scalpel
procedure called radio surgery. This is similar to laser surgery without
the high-intensity heat that’s generated from a laser.
Radio surgery eliminates the discomfort of scalpel surgery,
does not cause bleeding and is efficient at producing results without
tissue inflammation. If your gum tissue hinders the expression of your
positive attitude, we can help you open up your smile with gum tissue
contouring.

Intraoral Camera
More technology also means more
choices. Deciding on what is best for you can be daunting without
good information. The intraoral camera provides you with this
information. Besides our written documentation and conversations,
we can now add visual data to your resources for determining the
care that’s right for you.
In the past, understanding your
dental health was mostly left to your imagination, a mirror or
our descriptions. The intraoral camera, about the size of a pen,
lets you see up-close exactly how your smile looks, and the condition
of your teeth, on a television screen.

Instrument Sterilization
| |
Our practice is updated with the latest in instrument
sterilization. Since patient health is our main emphasis, a sterile
environment during your exam is important. Instruments and exam
room fixtures that we touch or a patient touches are continually
cleaned and sterilized.
To insure that each hand instrument is sterilized
properly, we have instituted an assembly line process in which no
step can be missed. First, every hand instrument that isn’t
disposed of after its use is cleaned ultrasonically. The next step
in the process is of drying, heat-sterilization, also known as autoclaving.
The American Dental Association recommends autoclaving. Then we
chemically sterilize those instruments. Furthermore, our sterilization
room is completely separate from other dental areas, which is not
common in other dental practices.

One-hour Smile Whitening
Many times discolored teeth are the only concern keeping
you from having a more confident smile. The new "laserfast"
tooth whitening method Dr. Chiappetta uses whitens teeth more permanently
with better looking results in just about an hour. It can erase years
of deep stains and in many cases even tetracycline stains.
Using a pen-size light, Dr. Chiappetta’s whitening technician simply
shines it for one minute on a light-activated gel placed on each tooth.
Depending on the current color of your teeth, this is done 3 to 4 times
per tooth.
We also provide at-home whitening products. But many patients
prefer in-office whitening because of the short amount of time needed
and the fact that at-home products require them to follow certain procedures
for two weeks or more to get the effect they want. In some cases, a combination
of at-home whitening and in-office whitening is recommended.

Superior Dental Materials
| |
Conventional, metal-based dentistry
falls short of what can be achieved with modern dental esthetics.
Dental implants, ceramic/all-porcelain crowns, porcelain veneers,
bonded inlays/onlays, and contouring/bonding materials are all part
of the esthetic renaissance of dentistry.
Visit Our
Services for further explanation
of these treatments and materials.
The restoration
materials now available provide many solutions that aren’t
possible with conventional materials. Presenting you with the options
that could be helpful and most beneficial in your situation is our
goal. E-mail or call
to schedule a smile consultation.

Root Canal Treatment
Root canals, or endodontic treatments, are not what they
used to be. Technology has transformed this procedure. It is now more
precise, comfortable and efficient.
With the Apex Locator and Rotary Endodontic Instrumentation
we use, we can more accurately and more quickly determine the end point
of the root canal and finish the procedure sooner. Our goal is to give
you better dentistry and a more pleasant visit.

DIAGNOdent
All
cavities have one thing in common – they start small. The KaVo DIAGNOdent®
laser scanner accurately locates cavities in their earliest and most treatable
stages.
DIAGNOdent uses harmless laser light technology to relay precise information
about the enamel surface, as well as reach grooves, fissures, cracks and
other hard-to-check areas. When used with standard dental instruments
and X-ray technology, the DIAGNOdent is proven to be over 90% accurate*
– uncovering decay often missed by conventional examination methods.
In addition, dentists can use it to monitor the progression of cavities
over time with precise and reliable measurements.
The small, portable DIAGNOdent is simple to operate and use. After creating
a baseline reading using a healthy tooth, the laser light is quickly and
painlessly moved throughout the mouth. During this process a numerical
reading is displayed next to the healthy baseline number. Potential problems
are indicated by changes in the numbers – prompting your dentist
to fix “trouble spots” early, and prevent future discomfort,
expense and damage to the tooth.

CEREC
CEREC
-- restoring damaged teeth with crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays used
to require multiple appointments, but not any longer! We make use of an
impressive new technology known as CEREC to allow your cosmetic dental
work to be completed in just one appointment. First digital impressions
are made of your teeth, using a special, highly precise camera. The CEREC
machine then uses the digital image to design a custom restoration for
you, matching the color precisely with the shade of your natural teeth.
The machine then mills the restoration while you wait.
We then bond the new restoration to your tooth, and your dental work is
completed -- often in under an hour!

Digital X-rays
Digital x-ray is a progressive technology that employs
up to 90% less radiation exposure than traditional dental film. To take
a digital X-ray of your teeth, we insert a tiny camera into your mouth.
The X-rays are then instantly transmitted to a computer screen, where
your dentist will review them with you. You can see any problems for yourself
while reviewing your treatment options together. Digital X-rays help you
to be more informed about your own dental health. We also offer digital
Panographic and TMJ x-rays.
